Can I keep WhatsApp when using an eSIM?

WhatsApp is tied to your phone number, not to a specific SIM card, so switching to a travel eSIM for data doesn't disconnect your account or change your contacts. As long as your phone has an internet connection — whether that's Wi-Fi or your BrisqNet eSIM's data — WhatsApp works exactly as it does at home.
What actually happens
- Your WhatsApp account stays registered to your original phone number, on your physical SIM
- Messages, calls, photos, and voice notes all travel over data — your BrisqNet eSIM provides that data abroad
- Contacts see no difference — messages send and receive normally
- You don't need to re-verify WhatsApp when you switch to using data from a travel eSIM instead of your home SIM
One thing to watch
If you receive an SMS verification code for WhatsApp (for example, if you're setting up a new device while abroad), that code goes to your phone number's SIM — not your eSIM data line. Make sure your regular SIM can still receive SMS, or use WhatsApp's alternative verification methods if it's not.
Do I need a local number to use WhatsApp abroad?
